spoiler free, tbr thursday

TBR Thursday – December

It’s the begining of the month so that means it’s TBR Thursday! My TBR looks a little small this month purely because of the size of some of the books I’m intending to read! I also had a small heart attack when I realised just how many candles I’d been hoarding recently so I also have a few TBR candles, or to be…Burnt? Lit? …Melted?

Navigating the Stars by Maria V Snyder
Maria’s newest YA book in set in SPACE and there was no way I was going to miss it! I started reading it a couple of days ago and I’m about half way through now and LOVE it! This is my number one priority this month and will be finished before I start anything else.

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare
The third and last book in the Dark Artifices arc of the Shadowhunter books has finally arrived and is absoloutley next  on my priorty list to be read. Lord of Shadows broke my heart into little pieces to the point I had trouble reading anything for the next few months so this may be my stopping point for the month, I hope not but we shall see!

Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas
This series reminds me of World of Warcraft in the sense that I’ve paid out for it and invested a crazy amount of time into it so even though it’s not been that great recently I’m still going to see it throgugh. I enjoyed parts of the last few Throne of Glass books but they haven’t held a candle to the first three books for a while now. That being said this is the last book in the series and I plan to finish what I started, I’m also interested to see how Maas leaves the series as ACOTAR which was supposedly the end of that series (not counting the three new arcs it sounds like are now happening) and it certainly fell short for me and others. Plus I’ve always been nervous and often unhappy about final books.

Outside In by Maria V Snyder
The top three are my main TBR, this and the next one are kind of ‘bonus’ reads if I manage to get through the first three and if not will probably carry over to my January TBR. After reading Navigating the Stars recently I was reminded that I hadn’t finished (or started) the the second book in a YA science fiction duology also by Maria, this is because I used to be totally useless at keeping up with release dates and missed it when it came out, I brought it at a later date and just never got back to it but now I’m inspired to do so!

Lifel1k3 by Jay Kristoff
Again another one I’ll hopefully get around to, I won a copy of this at YALC on the day it released and I’ve been desperate to get around to it but it got burried under review copies for blog tours etc but I will get to it and soon!

Chaol by Meraki Candles – books and hazlenut coffee

Android Mechanic by Geeky Clean –

Prince Aladdin by A Court of Candles –

Nephilim  by Geeky Clean –

S4S – Santa won’t you please bring me…?

As usual I hadn’t planned to do this weeks Six for Sunday post due to time, I’ve been under the weather this week and I’ve been pretty out of it BUT I’m feeling much better today and although it’s a bit late in the day, it turns out that in the end I just couldn’t resist joining in with this weeks prompt, “Santa won’t you bring me…?” I adore Christmas time (it’s my birthday so I’m probably a little bias) and I’m feeling super festive already so here we go!

An Aurora Rising, by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kauffman Arc
If you’ve been reading my blog for any amount of time you probably already know about my love of The Illuminae Files by the same authors and every since I finished Obsidio and found out about their next collaboration featuring hot space elves I was so completely onboard. The AU ARCs appeared on my timeline last week and the UK publishers Rock the Boat announced that there’s would be printed soon too, I have my name down as an interested reviewer and now I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll be chosen to receive a review copy, I can dream, right? You never know!!

Bookshelf help and a new bookshelf
This is a broad one. I’m at that point again already that I have too many books etc for my shelves, I don’t have a lot of space left but could probably fit one more bookshelf in and replace the old rickety one I had at my parent’s house who knows how many years ago.  I still need to get rid of some books and rearrange said content on said shelves though to make it a bit neater and feeling less stressed when I look at it. I guess I’m after a bookshelf fairy?

A Kylo Ren/ Ben Solo prequel book
Ideally written by Claudia Gray, Delilah Dawson or Christie Golden? I know he’s not everyone’s favourite character and honestly, I hated him in The Force Awakens but with The Last Jedi, I’m left with needing to know more! He’s evolved into such an interesting character now and I think there’s probably more than enough content in his backstory to give us more insight into the mind of Ben Solo and the exact path and events that led him to become Kylo Ren. Maybe we’ll get it as a prequel or companion book before the last Star Wars film in this trilogy? I can hope!

MORE Star Wars books sooner…
Okay so I’m still in a huge Star Wars funk at the moment and I’m desperately awaiting the releases of Master and Apprentice by Claudia Gray as well as Queens Shadow by Emily Kate Johnston, I absolutely cannot wait to read them and they’re not out until April and March next year respectively.

A Niffler plush
It’s just occurred to me recently that I really should have a Niffler Plushie, we’re fluffy, shiny collecting kindred spirits after all and it is pretty much my blog logo so I think it’s a given really. I’m in charge of the Christmas shopping this year so maybe I can just get myself one from the cat?

New cardigans and long tops
Being out of any real work at the moment means that I’m fast wearing all of my clothes to death, especially my cardigans and long tops. At least once a week I spend about an hour before bed window shopping…usually on the EMP site, these are two of my favourites.
