S4S – Autumn Coloured Books

Six for Sunday
Autumn is well and truly underway now and it’s brought some seriously weird weather with it, cold and wet in the mornings then sunny but usually windy in the afternoons. I am enjoying the darker evenings though which has been nice and all the orange, red and brown leaves on the trees or the crunchy ones underfoot. Appropriately, this weeks Six for Sunday prompt from Steph at A Little but A Lot is “Autumn Coloured Books” and it’s been a lovely one to think on.

How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell
This lovely deep red book with a dragon scale effect was the first that came to mind for this prompt. I’ve been reading this at night to my little boy and it’s been really fun! I’ve loved reading it for a week or two now with just a few pages usually an evening and I’ve enjoyed noticing the similarities to the films and TV shows, not to mention it’s really quite funny!

The Deathless Girls by Kiran Milwood Hargrave
Although I didn’t enjoy this book quite as much as I thought I would (not a bad read just not what I was expecting, you can check out my review here) this beautiful cover just screams autumn.

Finding Home Vol. Two by Hari Conner
I’ve just finished reading this stunning graphic novel this weekend (review coming Tuesday) and it is a slow burn, character driven, funny and sweet masterpiece. The second volume cover is also full of Autumn feels.

Star Wars: Resistance Reborn by Rebecca Roanhorse
This one I’ve not read yet as it’s not out until November Seventh and I’m SO excited about it. I eagerly read everything I could get my paws on when The Last Jedi came out and I’m determined to read all the build-up for The Rise of Skywalker with Resistance Reborn being the story of how the resistance is rebuilt after TLJ.

A Pocketful of Crows by Joanne Harris
This gorgeous book is a small hardback in black and gold. It’s beautiful and although not the orange, red, yellow or brown colours of Autumn I still think it gives off that Autumnal feel, as does the story inside. (You can read my spoiler-free  review here).

Chasing the Stars by Maria V. Snyder
Another one that I am yet to read but is on my list to read next (once I’ve finally finished Angel Mage) I’ve been lucky enough to have received an early copy ready for its release next month and the UK cover is full of lovely Autumn colours!

Now I’m off to grab a hot chocolate and a blanket as I return to my natural state which will now become my evening ritual until Spring appears next year! Don’t forget to check out my Inktober update tomorrow and Tuesday brings with it a spoiler-free review of Finding Home Vol. Two. Have a lovely rest of your weekend!
